Cylinder Seals
Cylinders seals of up to 5000 years old have been photographed and procesed resulting in object movies and roll-out images which can be manipulated interactively. |

Dutch clay pipes from Gouda
This website has a digital catalog about the pipe marks, and a collection of heelmarks.
A small collection is show using PHP and MySQL, but the main part of the site uses JavaScript and XML.

Roman Pottery in the Tongeren reference collection
The digitized collection catalog was converted to XML (structured text). The server side scripts (PHP) read this XML and generate the DHTML pages. If you browse to a specific pottery ware there is an object movie of a rotating sherd. more>> |

Surface texture of lithic materials
Image sequences of different types if lithic material, revealing the surface texture. Using a very limited set of images already gives a nice impression. Also DHTML is used to enable 'animation' without the need for a plugin for Java. more>> |

Microscope image sequence with changing focal depth. Animating the 'raw' images gives a nice depth impression. True 3D reconstruction might also possible. more>> |

The ROTEX acquisition apparatus
This computer controlled rotation device was develloped to semi-automaticaly acquire the Biderectional Texture Function (BTF) of materials. For the archaeologist it is being used to acquire rotation movies (image sequences) of small objects from reference collections. more>> |

Comparing high-resolution image viewers
Digitized a reproduction of the map of the Dutch city of Gouda, made by Blaeu in 1649, resulting in a 5849x4508 pixels image.

The quest for detail (in 3D)
Used the Minolta VIVID9i 3D laser scanner to acquire the geometry of two small objects. The scanning was done during the practical courses of the International Summer School; Computer Vision for Cultural Heritage 2007. more>> |

Historical glass reference collection
This glass collection website was build as part of a pilot study for the NRc and the RICH research. It demonstrates different ways to browse through all the glasses using mainly PHP server-side scripting and the MySQL database. |
